Nkong Hill Top Association for Development (NADEV), partnering with UNESCO and sponsored by Education Cannot Wait (ECW), implemented an alternative education program bringing digital learning to 2,755 vulnerable out-of-school children in Kumba I Municipality.

The intervention rolled out from April to August 2025 under the Multi-Year Resilience Programme (MYRP) alternative education component. Activities focused on six distinct communities: Diffa, Mile 1, Ngamlikum 3, Makata 2, Njembe Ekemue, and Njuki Ekemba. The program targeted children facing severe educational disruption, using technology to bridge critical learning gaps directly within their local areas.

Deploying Technology for Inclusive Classrooms

By delivering lessons through radios, tablets, speakers, and projectors, the initiative established flexible, community-based learning spaces. Instruction focused on foundational curriculum areas including English language, mathematics, science, technology, and life skills. Teachers integrated targeted psychosocial support alongside the academic coursework to help learners manage the emotional impacts of displacement and instability.

Measurable Outcomes in Literacy and Numeracy

The data collected during evaluations showed significant improvements in literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking capacity. Parents and local caregivers reported notable shifts in student confidence and daily motivation to study. This model confirms that portable digital tooling allows aid operations to scale delivery rapidly without waiting for permanent physical school construction.

This deployment forms part of NADEV’s broader framework for education in emergency and protection. The results achieved alongside UNESCO and Education Cannot Wait provide a clear blueprint for resilient learning pathways across the region.
